Arsenic levels in the Macleay River catchment, the water and the floodplain have given cause for concern. Questions about the source of the arsenic have often been raised.

Save Our Macleay River Inc (SOMR) is inviting all to an evening with Paul Robert Burton and several musicians from the two local bands Tryst and Salsa. Paul Robert Burton surprises with his versatile musical skills. He actively supports the environment group Our Land, Our Water, Our Future.

SOMR meeting with Hillgrove Mines representatives
In February, SOMR members met with Hillgrove Mines Operations Manager Peter Hoskings and Environment and Safety Manager Daniel Calderwood for an update on the operations.
The issues of particular interest are the efforts to stop contaminated water flowing from old mines (adits) into the catchment and the plans to expand operations to a new open cut mine at Clarks Gully.
