Paddle on the Macleay 2015

The preparations for this year’s Paddle on the Macleay on 3 October are in full swing.

It will be a full day event with a paddle from Fishermans Reach into the Yarrahapinni Wetlands,  a rare opportunity to experience the effects of the area’s restoration.

All participants need to register.  Registrations forms for The Paddle and $5 fee per person will be taken at the Fishermans Reach boat ramp from 9am to 9.45am.  Safety instructions will be given before launching the boats at 10am.  Paddle on the Macleay is not a race, but all paddlers should be back at Fishermans Reach by 5pm.  Click here for the entry form with maps.  Paddle on the Macleay 2015 entry form

You’ll need to bring your own boat and buoyancy vest, lunch and drinking water. Tea, coffee, cold drinks and biscuits will be provided at the Golden Hole.

An evening with information about the Macleay River estuary, its history and the wetland restoration will begin at 7.00 pm at the Stuarts Point Community Hall. The speakers include representatives of the Yarrahapinni Wetlands Restoration Trust and of the local Oyster Growers. Local musicians will provide entertainment with the Yarrapinni Community Choir setting the mood.

There are opportunities to buy food in the village or from our volunteers.

Participants might like to camp overnight at Stuarts Point or at Grassy Head Holiday Park.  For bookings for both parks go to  www.mvcholidayparks.com.au, or at the Seventh Day Adventists Convention Centre at Grassy Head Road http://nnsw.adventist.org.au/campgrounds.
